MUSIC UNDER THE STARS
Britt Music & Arts Festival
Stroll the sidewalks of historic Jacksonville in the summer and you’re just as likely to bump into a famous country singer or flute player as you are a winemaker. The Britt Music & Arts Festival is home to four glorious months of music. Some of the finest orchestras in the country, plus top country and indie acts, gather to play each summer in a beautiful outdoor amphitheater. Pick up a Rogue Valley wine and a picnic for the show. Bonus: many wineries feature music, too.
TASTE WINE, BROWSE HISTORY
Local legends & walking tours
While you roam the Rogue Valley, immerse yourself in the collected stories of the Klamath, Modoc and Coquille tribes. The Native American legends of Crater Lake are as rich as the stories from the Applegate Trail, a westward route forged by pioneers seeking to avoid the northern hazards of the Columbia River. The entire downtown of Jacksonville is on the National Register of Historic places. Pick up a self-guided walking tour map outside the Jacksonville Visitor Center. Charming Ashland also offers a series of self-guided walking tours of historic sites, cemeteries and public art.
